Once you've sent your RSVP for your wedding invitation it's time to choose your outfit!

Most women wonder whether they should buy a new outfit or dress to attend a wedding. The answer is that it's pretty much personal choice, as well as dependent on what you have in your wardrobe.

The key is to wear something that you can dress up to be suitable for a formal occasion by adding the right accessories.   Why not buy a shift or empire line dress that you can wear for other occasions, rather than have your new purchase languish unworn in the wardrobe? 

Wedding Guests on a Budget

Attending a wedding as a guest can be an expensive occasion, especially if you choose to buy an entirely new outfit. To keep costs down to enable you to spend more on a gift for the happy couple, why not consider wearing vintage?

Check through your existing wardrobe to see what you can wear, such as shoes, sandals, gloves and bags. If you can team these with a new dress you'll have reduced your expenses considerably, but still look amazing and elegant.

An increasingly popular choice is to team up with a friend who wears the same size and swap formal outfits for parties and other special occasions. This allows you to have twice the choice with only half the expense.  

If you know the wedding date ahead of time, consider buying a dress or two piece outfit when the sales are on. 

Tips for Wedding Guests

Wondering what style of clothing to wear?  Your wedding invitation should give you some clear clues as to what kind of dress code is expected.

If you're still unsure, ask the bride or groom, whichever invited you.  They'll probably be happy to help, after all, they've been spending hours and days planning for their big day and want everything to be just perfect!

Plan to arrive in plenty of time.  If you've got new shoes, see if someone can drop you off at the church or ceremony location, to save your feet unless parking is nearby.
