Wedding Guest - Plus Size
With such a range of styles and shapes available, there's now a wide choice
of wedding fashions for plus size women.
Choosing The Right Style of Dress
Whilst some of the more classic styles such as the A-line dress don't really flatter the fuller figure, the wrap dress has increasingly been worn for formal occasions and is favored by designers such as Diane von Furstenburg.
If your preference is for a two piece outfit, rather than a dress, choosing a "flip" style skirt which flatters your shape and teaming with a simple top and jacket can look fabulous. Don't forget to add some amazing heels to flatter your calves and draw attention to your legs too!
There may be a part of your body that you'd rather hide - so get creative with your outfit to cover up your arms / bottom / hips / tummy or whatever.
A few simple fashion tips:-
- big boobs? - wear lower necklines and ensure you have a well-fitted bra
- big tummy? - try and empire line dress and don't buy clothing a size too tight
- large bottom? - wear tailored clothing that fits and flares in the right places
- flabby arms? - cover with sleeves or a jacket
Following a few simple rules can help - but another tip is to dig out your favorite outfit and find out why it works so well for you. Can you base your formal outfit around this - e.g. same hemline, fitted waist, etc?
Confidence can be a issue for curvier girls - so take a friend along with you on your shopping trip. Not only is this great fun, it can help you find styles that you may not naturally have chosen from the rail, and stop pushy shop assistants encouraging you to buy the wrong styles or colors. Most of all, an honest opinion of how you look can help build your confidence in your purchase to ensure that you look and feel fabulous when you step out in it for the first time!
